As spring comes around each year, with it comes the beginning of a new season of farming for many across the United States. In the South, Farmers are not only responsible for much of the food, produce, and goods we consume, but they also make some of the biggest impacts on the local economy.

Each year, a board in Drew County chooses a family that they feel exemplifies farming and agricultural excellence in the county. This year, the board has selected the Dr. Jason and Sara Cater family as the 2024 Drew County Farm Family of the Year.

Jason and Sara, along with their sons Weston and Tanner, currently have a beef cattle ranch, four house layer hen farm, hogs, row crop farming, registered Quarter Horses, and timberland.

The Cater family previously won this award in 2013.

The annual Farm Family section with full coverage of the Caters and their farming operation will publish this summer.
