A special ride for a special guy…

Posted

Anyone who visits The Woods has most likely noticed the gentleman who usually sits in close proximity to the front door. He’s outside most days enjoying the sunshine, even in 110 degree weather or on cold days bundled in a jacket because he just feels at peace with the fresh air.

He’s a man of few words, but takes time to greet everyone that enters the building.  This past week he made a special request.

Mr. Charles Reese, AKA “Happy Jack” or  “Jack” has spent over 30 years of his life driving trucks.

He started out working for Ronnie Justice  with his big brother McKinley Reese.  He also worked for Smiley Garcia and Don Lassiter.  He has taught multiple guys over the years how to drive trucks, including Chris Wells.

Jack made the request this week, stating that he just wanted to “take one more ride in a truck.”

Chris Wells made that happen.  Chris showed up in a chromed out Peterbilt with monster stacks to take “Jack” on the ride he requested.   When Chris laid on the air horn as they were pulling out of the driveway, the smile on Jack’s face was priceless as you could only imagine how many times he himself has done this in the past, and sneaking in a few Jake-brakes thru town had him laughing and reminiscing of the good ol’ days.

Making this simple request a reality for Jack was the highlight of not only his day, but the staff’s day as well.  Our staff would like to extend a special thanks to Chris and Randall Wells and to the staff that made this possible.
