According to the Monticello Police Department Chief of Police, Carlos Garcia, Monticello Police Department arrested Jonathan Evins in connection with a murder that occurred on May 1, 2023.
Officers received a call and responded to a residence where a man was found shot on the property. The victim, John Miller was pronounced dead on the scene.
Evins had his first appearance on Wednesday, May 3, with Circuit Court Judge Crews Puryear. Evins is charged with first degree murder and has a bond of $200,000.
He is currently being held at the Drew County Detention Facility.
