Betty Sue Akin McConnell, 90, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at Daltons Place in Fordyce. She was born March 13, 1935, in Bastrop, La. to the late John Akin and Ester Jordan Akin.
She was the widow of Massey McConnell, a retired interior decorator and realtor and was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Betty loved flower gardening, working in her yard and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lora Lanone Denson; brother, Bobby Akin; and a great-granddaughter, Lillian Kate Denson.
Survivors include her children, David Denson (Terri) of Banks and Randy Bordeaux (Lori) of Monticello; grandchildren, David Wayne Denson (Katie), Ashlie Maggard (Levi), and Lauren Tuminello; great grandchildren, Gentry Maggard, Greyson Maggard, Kane Denson, Emmie Maggard, Evie Denson, Everett Maggard and Kroy Tuminello; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery on Hwy. 83 North. There was a visitation preceding the graveside service from 2-3 p.m. at the cemetery. The family would like to issue a very special ''thank you'' to Stephanie and the Hospice team along with Kim and the staff at Dalton's Place of Fordyce.
