Brother Joseph (Jake) Leon Lindsey, 90, of the Florence community in Drew County, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, December 26, 2022, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born January 14, 1932, in Star City, to the late Leon Lindsey and Ellene Owens Lindsey.
He was a retired School Superintendent with Fountain Hill School District and a retired Southern Baptist Preacher at Florence Baptist Church.

Brother Jake, as he was affectionately known, loved hanging out with family and friends before he became inactive. He was always a jokester with a great sense of humor that enjoyed giving (and receiving) gag gifts. He also was an avid builder of anything and everything and would always literally give you the shirt off of his back and share his last bit of food.

Brother Jake was a United States Air Force Veteran, Mason and member of Florence Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Martha Lindsey of Florence; one son, Kevin Lindsey (Tracy) of Florence; and two grandchildren, Payden and C.J. Lindsey also of Florence.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Woodall officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. There was a visitation from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. You can sign Brother Jakes guestbook page at www.stephensondearman.com.
