Carl Hayes, 78, of Monticello, passed away at his home in Star City. He was born March 8, 1945, in Monticello to the late Bennett Hayes and Margaret Christine Hayes Ramsey Sipes. Carl was a pastor and member of Eastside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School on Wednesday evenings, Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by two sisters, Bennie Jean Hayes Bray, and Mary Louise Hayes Vining.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Hayes; three sons, Jeff, Jamie (Holly), and Joseph (Amanda); one sister, Joyce Hayes Chandler; stepchildren, Denise Binns Brantley, Dr. Lee (Christie) Voulters, Brandon (Amber) Acree; several step-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Monticello. There will also be a celebration of Carl's life at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church after the graveside service.
