Carolyn Jane Hand Wilson, 89, of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Belle View Nursing and Rehab. She was born March 9, 1936, in Hot Springs to the late William Louie Hand, Sr. and Hazel Vanpelt Hand of North Little Rock.
Carolyn was a licensed cosmetologist and owned Carolyn's Beauty Shop in Dermott for over twenty years. She served twelve terms for a total of twenty-four years, as a member of Dermott City Council.
She loved singing, hunting arrowheads, drawing and painting but, her greatest love was watching the Arkansas Razorbacks football and basketball teams.
Carolyn graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1954 and was a majorette and assistant drum majorette during those years. She was a member of the Dermott Church of Christ and had lately attended the Church of Christ in Monticello.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Thomas C. Wilson; two children, Vickie Morgan Cater Newton and Andy Morgan; sister, Doris Hand McClanahan; and brother, William Louie Hand, Jr. Survivors include one son, David Wilson (Paula) of Monticello; one daughter, Kim Binns (Mark) of Star City, and daughter, Julie Hayes (James) of Tillar; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Graveside services followed in Dermott Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Monticello Church of Christ.
