Denton, "Deedie," Lambert

Posted

Denton, affectionately known as "Deedie", Lambert was born in Monticello on December 12, to the parentage of Travis and O. V. Fisher-Lambert. He was the fifth-born of seven children of this union. As a teenager, he joined the New Light Baptist Church. He attended Drew High School, and transferred to Corning High School in Corning, N.Y., where he graduated in 1961.
Deedie is preceded in death by both parents, along with brothers; J.W., Bill, Bob, Lawrence, and E.D.; a sister, Travistene Lambert; and a nephew, Patrick Lambert.
He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter, Yulonda Lambert; granddaughters, Stacy, Mauri'onda, and Malibu Wardlaw; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Young - all of Rialto, Calif. He leaves his two sisters, Ophia Jean Franklin of Midlothian, Texas and Joyce Lambert-Eubanks of Maumelle; and one brother, Doyle "Duke" Lambert (Mildred) of Ontario, Calif. He leaves a niece who was reared as a sister-Sharon Johnson-Brooks (Reginald) of Midlothian, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Deedie will always be remembered as the first one to jump into the car (no matter whose car), just so that he could drive. He was quiet at home but always had something comical to say. He was hard-headed and always found a way to get into trouble.
On Saturday morning, October 25, 2025, Deedie answered the call to "get on board" Heaven-Bound Train. Although he is absent from the body, he is present with the Lord. His witty, sly remarks will always be remembered. He will always live in our hearts.
Visitation will be Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello. Burial will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery.
