Drew Central hosts signing day for graduating athletes

On Wednesday, April 29, Drew Central High School recognized six student-athletes who will be continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. The seniors recognized were McKenzie Adcock, who will be continuing her cheerleading career at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Chloe Anderson, who will continue her basketball career at Paris Junior College, Zae Bullard, who will further his football career at Arkansas Baptist College, Kazyria Gipson, who will be continuing her basketball career at South Arkansas College, Amari Lucas, who will continue her softball career at Lyon College, and Kelsi McDougald, who will also attend Lyon College to further her cheerleading career. Two students were also recognized for achievements at the state and local level throughout their careers. Anderson was recognized as an All-State selection for basketball, three-time All-Conference performer, and 1,000-point scorer at Drew Central. She was a part of teams that reached the state tournament her sophomore and senior years. Gipson was also honored as a two-time All-Conference selection, earning Second Team honors as a junior and First Team honors as a senior. Both players had a key role in leading the Lady Pirates Basketball Team to Conference Runner-up and regional finals this season.

“We are extremely proud of each of you—not only for your athletic accomplishments, but for representing Drew Central the right way. We also want to thank your parents, coaches, and teachers for their support along the way,” Coach Michael Goad shared. “This is a great day to be a Pirate.”
