Edward Charles Grays "Ed," 69

Posted

Edward Charles Grays, affectionately known as ''Ed,'' peacefully departed this life on October 27, 2025, in Drew County, at the age of 69. Charles was born on July 5, 1956, and throughout his life he was known for his smooth charm, sharp style, and easygoing spirit. He loved dressing to the nines - cowboy boots, perfectly creased pants, and a button-down shirt with the top three buttons open. A true ''smooth operator,'' Charles carried himself with confidence and grace wherever he went. He found joy in the simple things - gardening, fishing by the water, watching sports, and showing off his basketball skills in his younger days. In 2004, Charles rededicated his life to the Lord at the House of Prayer under the leadership of Pastor Louise Miller, a decision that gave him lasting peace and strength.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rosie Lee Graves (2016); his daughter, Shagayla Latrinn Grays (2015); his father Shelby ''Peter'' Grays (2010); and two brothers, Lee Andrew Grays (1976) and Willie Earl Grays (1978).
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda Wallace Grays; his devoted son, Shane Allen Grays; six cherished grandchildren, Ciana, Akia, Malik, Jalen, Shani, and Shane Jr.; stepdaughter, Shakeylla Allen; step grandson, James F. Matthews III and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever remember his laughter, wisdom, and style. Charles will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, faith, and strength will continue to live on in all who knew him.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025, at The House of Prayer in Fountain Hill. There will be a Wake Saturday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lacey Cemetery
