Since 1981, members of the community have gotten together each spring and chosen one family to represent Drew County as Farm Family of the Year. This long list of salt-of-the-earth families is a true testament to the value farmers bring to not only our area, but the world.
Chuck Hoover is a Drew County native and part of the Arkansas Century Farm program with the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. Hoover, along with Carolyn, his wife of 43 years, their two children, Michelle (David Roberts) and Brice (Kelsey) are working hard to keep traditions and love for the land alive as they raise the next generation on C&C Farms.
Grandchildren Kayleigh, Patton, and Emmy Raye are all hands on at the farm. Each grandchild has animals they are responsible for caring for and certain farm chores. Family is an integral part of the Hoover operation which includes cattle and hay farming, logging and much more.
Be on the look out for the annual Farm Family section which will be in the Advance-Monticellonian in the coming months.
