For decades, Drew County has chosen one family each year to be the Farm Family. For 2026, the Joel Stevens family has been selected.
Joel, along with his wife, Margo, and their children Elson and Maelee, farms approximately 10,000 acres of land in Southeast Arkansas, including corn, cotton, rice, and soybeans.
Since 1947, the Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program, through Arkansas Farm Bureau, has helped to recognize outstanding farm families throughout the state. The objectives of the Farm Family of the Year program are to give recognition and encouragement to farm families who are doing an outstanding job on their farm and in their community; to recognize the importance of agriculture in the community and state; and to disseminate information on improved farm practices and management.
A special section featuring the Stevens family and their farm operations will be published this summer.
