John Carroll Cash passed away peacefully after a long illness in Amarillo, Texas on March 1, 2025. He was 65 years old.
John was the youngest son of Martin and Margaret Cash of Monticello. He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Cotter of Amarillo, Texas, his son, Justin Cash of Carrollton, Texas and four siblings, Larry, Linda, Karen, and Mike Cash.
After graduating from Monticello High School, John completed his university degree in psychology and a M.Sc. in Rehabilitation in Dallas, Texas. He made a significant contribution to the lives of so many disabled he served. Among his professional achievements, John created the Social Security's present definition of Pain, and it is now a classification in and of itself as a criteria for disability.
John and his wife Jo, were huge supporters of rescued animals. He requested there be no public service, but donations to your local animal shelter or the Amarillo Animal Shelter in his memory would be welcomed.
