Judy Ophelia Story Hopkins, 77, of Star City, passed away Friday, May 15, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Monticello. Judy was born October 22, 1948, in Monticello, to the late Jack and Mildred Shultz Story. She worked most her life as a bookkeeper for various businesses, including Floyd’s Chip Mill, and had a dual membership at Florence Baptist Church, Monticello and First Free Will Baptist Church of Star City. Judy enjoyed watching games shows on TV, singing and listening to gospel music, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved her annual Branson trip with her sisters.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Jessie “Von” Hopkins; son, Scotty (Melissa) Hopkins of Star City; daughter, Tina (Nolan) Martin of Star City; brother, Grady (Judy) Story of Star City; two sisters, Lavon (Donnie) Weatherford of Yorktown and Carol (Terry) Thompson of Star City; six grandchildren, Jaela Martin, Rachel Martin, Brooke Martin, Addilyn Hopkins, Ian Cole (Meaghan), and Emma (Ronald) Padilla; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte Cole and Arthur Cole.
A visitation was held 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 18, at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Griffin Funeral Service, with Bro. Dee Queen and Bro. Tim Forman officiating. Burial followed at Leek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Lindsey, Andy Story, Ronald Padilla, T G Thompson, Kenny Thompson, and Parker Story. Honorary Pallbearers were Briar Thompson, Drake Thompson, and Dakota Thompson.
