Lady Billies remain undefeated with wins over Hamburg, Watson Chapel

The Monticello Lady Billies continue to remain undefeated on the season and in 4A-8 Conference play after a 9-1 win over Hamburg and a 12-0 victory over Watson Chapel before the Spring Break period. 

Alaina Lyle would get the start for the Lady Billies and would begin the game by striking out the first two batters and getting the third to ground out.

After two scoreless innings, the Lady Billies got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning.

Lyle would connect on a double to score Kate Morgan followed by a single by Audrey Howard to score Lyle.

Kiley Lane would then clear the bases with a two-run homer for a 4-0 lead.

Monticello added two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two run shot by Madeline Stanley that scored Lane to make the lead 6-0. 

Monticello added their final runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kate Morgan led off with a triple followed by a walk to Addi Frazer. Kate Morgan would score on a wild pitch before Lyle hit a homer to make the score 9-0. 

Hamburg would score in the top of the seventh to set up the 9-1 final.

Lyle would get the complete game win striking out 17 batters. 

In their final contest before Spring Break, the Lady Billies hosted Watson Chapel with Ashlynn Snow starting the contest in the circle for the Lady Billies.

Monticello would take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a single that scored Frazer and a two-run home run by Lane.

The Lady Billies would close the game in the bottom of the third inning after Lane reached on an error and Anna Morgan reached first on a walk.

Lane would score on a passed ball before Stanley connected on her second home run of the season to clear the bases. 

Meygan Bivens would single followed by a double by Snow to score Bivens.

After scores by Maya Hayes and Kate Morgan, Lane would connect on her second two-run homer of the contest followed by a score by Anna Morgan to give the Lady Billies a 12-0 win improving their overall record to 8-0 with a conference record of 4-0 to lead the conference a half game ahead of Stuttgart at 3-0, and a one and a half game lead over third place Crossett, 2-1,  who the Lady Billies meet after Spring Break on Tuesday, March 28, travelling to Crossett to take on the Lady Eagles at 5 pm.
