According to Mayor Jason Akers, local organizers in cooperation with the City of Monticello will host the inaugural Monticello Big Bass Tournament on May 16, 2026.
The event, billed as “Casting for The Call,” will consist of 20 percent of the tournament proceeds going to benefit the call of Southeast Arkansas, which helps to provide a future and a hope for children in foster care.
A cash prize will also be awarded to the tournament winner.
After being stocked with trophy bass by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Lake Monticello has seen great fishing this year and has garnered anglers from Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
“We are excited for our community as we continue to make Monticello a destination location. We greatly appreciate the organizers as well as Arkansas Game and Fish for their work and dedication to make this a reality."
