P.E.O. Sisters Susan Sharp Smith, Trudy Jackson, Suzan Morgan, Teri Caldwell and Sylvia Ngar delivered a load of snacks and easy meals to the UAM campus for the “Food Hub” that provides snacks and easy meals to UAM students at no cost and no questions asked!  P.E.O. members donated food items for this cause at the last P.E.O. meeting on Monday, August 17.  UAM counselor, Emily Johnston, was very appreciative for the donations collected from P.E.O. members.

P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) International was founded in 1869 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.  P.E.O. Arkansas was founded in 1892 in Eureka Springs, and the Monticello P.E.O Chapter AB was founded in 1946.  The Monticello Chapter is celebrating its 80th year this year!

The mission statement below epitomizes the purpose of P.E.O.:

"Where women motivate, educate, and celebrate women."

The local chapter of the Monticello P.E.O. awards numerous college scholarships in addition to providing resources that meet the various needs of young women in Drew County.
