Posted

Martha Sue Jenkins of Monticello went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday January 8, 2025, at Trinity Village in Pine Bluff. She was born October 8, 1933, in Wilmar to the late Charlie Van Hogue and Frankie Woodson Lillard Hogue and was a life-long resident of Drew County.
She was of the Baptist faith, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a homemaker, loved making quilts, crocheted objects, cross stitching, and all sorts of crafts which she gifted to her family and friends. She loved working in the garden, tending her roses, reading the Bible and singing Praise, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a sweet, humble, God-fearing lady, and was loved by all who knew her. Sue worked for AVA at all the Burlington mills, the cafeteria at Drew Central Schools, and later as a Foster Grandparent.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Wylie Hogue; her husband of 49 years, Clifford Jenkins Jr.; daughter, La Jeana Pirtle; step-daughter, Mary Ann Jenkins; great granddaughter, Josie Claville; and sister-in-law, Marie Rawls, who she loved as a sister.
She is survived by her children, Carl Jenkins of Farmington, Rodney Jenkins (Carmen) of Huntsville, Ala. Ricky Jenkins of Georgia, Teresa Everette (Bill) of Star City, Lamar Jenkins (Nyra) of Batesville, Michael Jenkins (Rayan) of Monticello; son-in-law, Michael Pirtle of Farmington; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joey Chambers officiating. There will be a visitation Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in at Lone Sassafras Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Trinity Village, Affinity Hospice, and especially her daughter Teresa and husband Bill for taking loving care of her.
