Two fresh faces have joined the local media staff at Drew County News, Inc.

Jeff McDonald, who has served on the editorial staff since March, was promoted to Editor at a recent company meeting.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the excellent job Jeff has been doing for The Advance," General Manager Ashley Hogg stated. "He is worthy of this promotion and I am excited about the opportunities ahead of this team."

McDonald was first introduced to readers on March 29, 2023. Since then, McDonald has taken responsibility for almost every aspect of editorial content of the Advance-Monticellonian and the special publications throughout the year.

“I’m very honored to be in this position,” McDonald said. “We have a great team here, and I’m looking forward to the future of the Advance-Monticellonian.”

Additionally, the advertising department at The Advance is pleased to announce another Drew County native has joined the staff.

Sierra Everett has lived in Drew County since early childhood and graduated Drew Central High School. She attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and has an associates degree.

Everett is the daughter of Walter and Brandie Everett and Shawnya Everett.

Long time Advertising Manager Vicki Kelley retired at the end of May and Everett has stepped in and begun to handle the advertising needs for Kelley's former customers.

"Sierra brings fresh ideas and a sense of excitement not only to the advertising department, but to the entire office," Hogg added. "I am very excited to be working with her, she is a great asset."

"I have loved working with the entire team at the Advance-Monticellonian thus far," Everett stated. "They have all provided me with so much insight and guidance throughout this learning experience and I could not be more appreciative."
