Melba Jane Pounders Strickland, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at her home in Coleman. She was born May 20, 1931, in Red Fork to the late James and Edna Mew Pounders.
She was a retired manufacturing employee and longtime member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church. Granny loved working in her yard and flower garden but most of all cherished the time she could spend with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Bennie Strickland and James Strickland; one grandson, Kenneth Kevin Willams, one great grandson, Aaron Walker Strickland and three sisters, Sue Harper, Peggy Carrington and Betty Abernathy.
She is survived by four children, Linda Strickland Mitchell of Monticello, Donald Strickland (Glenda) of Monticello, Paula Strickland Pulliam (Dirk) of Fort Smith and Steve Strickland (Tina) of Monticello; one sister, Clara Crockett of White Hall; twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Jacks and Dirk Pulliam officiating. There was a visitation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday preceding the funeral service. Burial was in Pleasant Springs Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ian Strickland, Simon Strickland, Ryan Williams, Kevin Williams, Josh Etheridge and Brandon Flemister.
