Monticello, Drew Central set for final regular season contests

Posted

The Drew Central Pirates and the Monticello Billies will wrap up the 2026 regular season football schedules this week with both teams playing at home.

For the Drew Central Pirates, who got their first win of the season this past week with a 22-20 win on the road over the Helena Cougars, handing head coach Joe Spatafora his first win as the Pirates head coach.

It also marked the first time in school history that the Pirates defeated the Helena Cougars.

The Pirates will wrap up the 2026 season, having been eliminated from playoff contention, at Mike Pennington Stadium on Thursday hosting the Dumas Bobcats, who will enter the contest winless in conference play.

The Pirates are looking to finish the season strong and a win over the Dumas Bobcats would solidify the Pirates heading into the next season under Spatafora with the Pirates improving throughout the season despite having a 29 player roster and being hit with injuries that sidelined players during the course of the season.

Kickoff is set for 7 pm on November 5.

For the Monticello Billies, they will play their final regular season contest on Friday, November 6, hosting DeWitt at 7 pm.

Monticello is currently in fourth in the conference standings and needs a win over DeWitt to secure that spot, however if Stuttgart defeats Hamburg and the Billies win, Monticello could finish the season as high as second in the conference.

Crossett travels to Warren to face the Lumberjacks that could also play into the playoff picture.

If the Eagles defeat the Lumberjacks and the Billies defeat DeWitt then that guarantees Monticello at least a third seed with Warren falling to four and DeWitt being knocked out of the playoffs with Crossett taking over the fifth spot.
