At the special called school board meeting for Monticello School District, a new baseball coach, Ross Rogers, was hired for the upcoming school year.
Rogers coached at Fordyce for two years before coming to Monticello. " I came to Monticello because it had better opportunities and it gave me a chance to work with a new group of children", Rogers said.
Also at the meeting, a bid to turf the entire softball field was approved by the school board.
This project was first considered in August 2022 but it was tabled due to the other projects they were working on. The job was approved for $512,000.
The turf is planned to have blue and white stripes across the field as well as the Monticello schools "M" logo in the center of the field.
