New project to highlight community news and local talent

On Friday, February 28, the staff of the Advance Monticellonian, in conjunction with Keith Wallis, will be debuting a new project titled “Monticello Minute Unscripted”. The project which is hosted by Wallis and directed and produced by the Advance Staff, will be a weekly video segment highlighting people, businesses, organizations, artists, musicians, and much more from the Monticello and Drew County area. The main goal for Monticello Minute is to keep the community informed on things that are going on in the community, showcase the incredibly talented and gifted people in our community, and offer a new medium to reach as many people as possible.

“Since 1870, the Advance Monticellonian has been keeping the community well informed. We have no plans of stopping in 2025. Our goal is to reach all consumers in Drew County. This team has worked so hard on this project, and I am proud to be a small part of it. We hope you enjoy it and we welcome your feedback,” Ashley Hogg, Publisher of the Advance and Eagle Democrat said.

This week’s episode will allow our audience to see Wallis interview Ashley Hogg, Kathy Lyon, who will talk about the upcoming production of Annie Jr., and Blake Anglin who will give a musical performance. More guests and artists are lined up, but you will have to tune in to the Advance Monticellonian Facebook page or www.advancemonticellonian.com to learn who they are.

“I am very pleased to be a part of this project,” host Keith Wallis said. “My goal for Monticello Minute Unscripted is to highlight the amazing people and incredible organizations that exist within our community. I am excited to help produce a positive broadcast that our viewers can both look forward to and enjoy each week.”

“We are excited to give you a fresh take on the people of Drew County and look forward to highlighting their talents, points of view, and other things that they bring to the table,” project Producer Joanna Poole said. “Catch each week’s new episode to see how Monticello and the surrounding areas are being positively impacted by the people that live here.”

The project will also see the Advance staff partner with Advantages of Southeast Arkansas. At this time, John Tyler, who many of you may know from the Discovery Skills Center News Report on social media, will be in the office once a month to read the Community Calendar and give an update on what is going on at Discovery Skill Center.

“I’m excited to see where this project takes us,” Managing Editor Jeff McDonald said. “It’s great that we get to bring all of our guests and guest artists in, but it’s also great that we get to partner with organizations like Advantages and include their clients in this amazing project as well. We have put a lot of thought and. effort into this project and I believe the end product will show that.

The Advance staff has also started a TikTok page recently, you can follow @advance.mnticello to see what we have going on.
