Ollie Leon Simpson Carter, age 83 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, June 2, at Baptist Spring Hill Hospital in North Little Rock. She was born February 22, 1943, in Dermott to the late Hollander Simpson and Erler Mae Barnett Simpson Langston.
She was the widow of Glenn Steven Carter, a retired Burlington Industries employee and a Baptist. Mrs. Ollie loved reading, cooking, and scrolling through Facebook, but her greatest love was spending time with her family. She loved them all very much! She also loved having family get-togethers where she cooked for them. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Woody Earl Simpson, James Edgar Simpson and Clyde Franklin Simpson; a nephew, Clyde Franklin Simpson, Jr.; her stepfather, Albert Langston; and two great grandchildren, Katie Forrest and Layton Forrest.
She is survived by two children, Rebecca Lynn Carter Knight of Monticello and Joseph Michael Carter and wife Heather of Monticello; two brothers, Melvin Simpson and wife Catherine of McGehee and Henry Simpson and wife Shelia of Monticello; two granddaughters, Caley Forrest and husband Michael and Sammi Hickam and husband Hunter; three great-grandchildren, Konnor Forrest, Cayson Forrest and Kynlee Davis; a special great-niece who was like a grandchild, Tonya Palmer Fussell and husband Jake; two brothers-in-law, Jack Carter and wife Jill of Louisiana and Gene Carter and wife Bettie of Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Rash Cemetery.
