Ray and Shirley Morrison, 89 & 88

Shirley, then Ray Morrison passed from this world on Wednesday, January 4 at their home in Rison, a place they loved.  

Shirley was born on March 15, 1934 in Pine Bluff, to Elva and Van Sadler. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, J.L. Sadler II.  

Ray was born in Rison,  on June 1, 1933 to Mildred and Angus Morrison, who preceded him in death.  

They both graduated from Rison High School, where Ray was a member of the 1950 State Championship Football Team. They then both attended Henderson State College. After marriage, they were stationed in Georgia and California as Ray fulfilled his Army obligations. They returned to Rison in 1957 to build their lives together. Ray was head football coach of Rison High and then went on to sell Life Insurance. He served as a board member for C&L for many years. Ray and Shirley were members of Rison Methodist Church, where Ray also served on various committees. 

They are survived by Ray’s sisters, Kay Reed and Angie Day; sons Scott (Paige) Morrison of Rison and Dr. Steve (Debbie) Morrison of Monticello; grandchildren, Dr. Kathryn Morrison (Doug) Rinehart of Bentonville, Dr. Sadler Morrison of Springfield, Mo., and Jaelle Morrison of Mansfield, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Van Sadler and Grace Elizabeth Rinehart of Bentonville.  

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Greenwood Cemetery in Rison with Bro. Scott Grubb and Bro. Wade Toddy officiating.
