Royal Sterling Dodson, 84, of Monticello, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, at his home in Monticello. He was born February 13, 1938, to the late Kavanaugh Watt Dodson and Vannoy Merten Dodson, in De Valls Bluff.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist. Royal was a United Methodist pastor until his retirement. He was patriotic and very proud of his National Guard Service.
In addition to his parents, Royal is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Crabtree Dodson, and one brother, Butch Dodson.
He is survived by three sons, Kavan Dodson (Michele), Kirk Dodson, and Keith Dodson (Lori); four grandchildren, Rebekah Dodson, Josh Dodson, Michael Dodson, and Aleighsha Dodson; and one great grandchild, Jimmy Dodson; and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service was held Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Green Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Rushing officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Michael Dodson, Joshua Dodson, Phillip Jackson, Jesse James, Ryan Spurlock, and Malachi Willman.
