As the electoral college met Tuesday in State Capitols across the country, a Southeast Arkansas native and resident cast one of Arkansas’ six electoral college votes for President Donald J Trump. This summer, Sarah Dunklin was elected to serve as one of Arkansas’ six Presidential Electors. There are 538 total Presidential Electors sitting on the 2024 Electoral College. 312 votes, including all of Arkansas' six electoral college votes, went to President Donald J Trump and 226 votes went to Kamala Harris. The electoral college ensures that small states like Arkansas are equally represented in the Presidential election.
In addition to serving as a 2024 Presidential Elector, Sarah Dunklin currently serves as the 1st Congressional District Chairman of the Republican Party of Arkansas, which encompasses the 30 counties of Eastern Arkansas where Rick Crawford is the Congressman. She was a President Trump Appointee to the USDA Farm Service Agency State Board during the last Trump administration. Dunklin also served as Trump Campaign Chair for the Congressional District and as Trump RNC Delegate in 2016. She previously served as Chairman of the Desha County Republican Committee for three terms. Dunklin stated, “I was honored to cast my vote for President Trump today. Thank you to the Arkansas voters who voted to put President Trump back in the White House.”
By proclamation of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the electoral college met at 10:00 am Tuesday in the Old Supreme Court room at the State Capitol in Little Rock. The other five electors were Eddie Arnold of Arkadelphia, Joseph Wood of Fayetteville, Jennifer Lancaster of Bauxite, Mindy McAlindon of Centerton, and Jonathan Barnett of Siloam Springs. All of Arkansas’ six votes, representing 1,800,000 votes of Arkansans, were successfully cast for President Donald J Trump.
