Stuttgart defeats Lady Billies 4-0 in extra innings for first loss

The Monticello Lady Billies went 1-1 on the week in conference play after a win at Crossett and suffering their first loss of the season at home to the Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds in extra innings on Tuesday night. 

On the road against Crossett, the Lady Billies would shutout the Lady Eagles over five innings in the run-ruled shortened contest. 

Monticello would get three runs in the first and second innings, a run in the fourth, and three in the fifth to take the victory.

Alaina Lyle would record 13 strikeouts in the contest. 

Monticello would travel to Dumas for a non conference contest on Thursday night for a 7-0 victory.

Addi Frazer would pitch the complete game with four Lady Billies recording two hits in the contest with Kate Morgan, Frazer, Lyle, and Audrey Howard each leading in hits. 

The Lady Billies would play a pair of games in Smackover over the weekend to win the Smackover Jamboree. 

In their first game on Saturday, the Lady Billies would face Parkers Chapel. 

Frazer would get the call to start the contest and would pitch the complete four inning game allowing one run on three hits and recording six strikeouts. 

Lyle and Howard would each record home runs in the contest with the Lady Billies taking a 13-1 win.

In game two, the Lady Billies would take a 7-4 victory over Morris Illinois Redskins.

Anna Morgan would connect for a home run in the contest with Lyle recording the win with seven strikeouts on the day. 

Returning home to face the Stuttgart Lady Riceboards for the top position in the 8-4A, it would take extra innings to decide who would take the top spot in the conference. 

After seven scoreless innings, the extra innings rules would place a runner on second to begin the inning. 

Stuttgart would get the advantage in the top of the eighth inning, scoring four runs in the inning while holding Monticello scoreless in the bottom half to take the 4-0 win. 

Monticello will return home on Thursday to host Warren at 5 pm and on the road on Tuesday to face Star City at 5 pm.
