UAM Volleyball Falls to GAC Rival SAU on the Road

The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team left Magnolia, Arkansas with a loss against Great American Conference Rival Southern Arkansas University. The Blossoms played three sets in the match, falling to the Muleriders on the road.

UAM closes out the day with a season record of 5-8 after the conclusion of Tuesday.

The opening set began with a promising 2-0 start from the Blossoms, but the Muleriders came back with a 7-0 run of their own to regain the lead. As play continued, both Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas continued to exchange points back and forth, keeping the set in either teams reach. SAU begin to pull away from the Blossoms, taking an 19-10 lead as UAM would call a timeout. The Muleriders would eventually take the first set 25-17.

In the second set Monticello was the first team to score, but the Muleriders once again began their run to the lead. The set was dominated by the home team for the remainder of the match. Southern Arkansas would take a 25-14, and win the match 3-0.

The third and final set of the match began very similar to the others as the Blossoms once again scored first, followed by the Blossoms taking the lead away briefly. William Jewell would take back the lead and continue to outscore UAM for the remainder of the  set. They would take a win in the set, 25-16, and a 3-0 win in the match.

Jasmine Welton led the Blossoms in kills with 8.

Mia Smalls contributed 17 assists in the match.

Defensively, the Blossoms were led by Stasha Adams with 13 digs.
