The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils took the field for the first time in the 2026 season under new head coach Gary Goff on Thursday, September 3, at Convoy Leslie Cotton Bowl Stadium hosting the Savage Storm from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
UAM would win the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
After the opening kickoff, Southeastern would start at their own 35 yardline and would turn the ball over on downs at their own 36 after Charles Thomas made a tackle in the backfield for a five-yard loss.
Starting in great field position, the Weevils would drive down to the Southeastern five before the drive came to an end, turning the ball over on downs at the five.
Southeastern would get on the board on their next possession, covering the 95 yards with Chancy Lester Jr. taking the ball in from the UAM one with 49 seconds remaining in the quarter.
Dylan Cox added the extra point to give the Savage Storm a 7-0 lead.
Southeastern would add a second score with nine minutes left in the half on a one-yard run by Levay Duncan and an extra point.
Southeastern extended their lead to 21-0 with 4:38 remaining in the half and an extra point.
The Weevils would get on the board before the end of the half after starting on their own 26 the Weevils would get down the field to the Southeastern one where Braylon Henry would take the ball in for the score.
Charles Stinson’s extra point was blocked with the Weevils trailing 21-6 at the half.
UAM’s defense would hold the Savage Storm scoreless in the second half with UAM getting the only touchdown of the half.
Starting at their own 20, the Weevils would travel the field getting to the one yardline where Henry would get into the endzone for the second time in the contest to set up the 21-12 final after the failed conversion.
The Weevils will be on the road at Ada, Oklahoma on Thursday, September 10, to face the East Central Tigers.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
