William Jerry Smith, 87, of Monticello, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Baptist Health Drew County in Monticello. He was born October 24, 1937, in Russellville to the late James Roy Smith and Alta Gross Smith.
Jerry was a Lt. Colonel for thirty-seven years in the U.S. Army Reserves and a Fisheries Biologist with the Arkansas Game and Fish for 35 years before his retirement. He received his BS of Biology from Arkansas Tech University. Jerry was a member of the Monticello Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, his church family, and most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by one brother, Paul Smith.
He is survived by his wife Laura Smith of Monticello; daughter, Tracy Roberts (Ranger) of Southlake, Texas; son, Scott Smith (Celena) of Searcy; six grandchildren, Trent Roberts, Tori Roberts, Turner Roberts, Sydney Provence, Gentry Smith, and Hadley Smith; as well as a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held after the holidays at the Monticello Church of Christ at a time to be determined.
