Lady Billies break single season home run record against Conway

The Monticello Lady Billies would improve on their season and conference record on Thursday, April 25, hosting the Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds on Senior Night, but would end the contest two home runs shy of the single season record of 47 set by Smackover in 2019. 

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Billies would get on the board in the bottom of the second inning on asolo home run by Kiley Lane for a 1-0 lead.

Stuttgart would tie the contest 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single.

Ashley Hales would lead off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single and would score on a single by Skylar Burns for a 2-1 lead. 

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Audrey Howard would get on with a two out triple and would score on a double by Kiley Lane. 

Ashley Hales would connect for a two run home run to extend the Lady Billies lead to 5-1.

Monticello would get the final runs of the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning after Burns would score on a double by Addi Frazer and pinch runner Halle Ross scoring on a single by Howard to set up the 7-1 win.

Howard, Lane, and Hales would lead the Lady Billies from the plate with each going 2 for 4 .

With the win the Lady Billies would improve to 21-0 on the season and 12-0 in conference play.

The Lady Billies would get one more shot at tying or breaking the home run record in a non conference contest on Tuesday night against the Conway Lady Wampus Cats from the 6A Central Conference. 

Conway would finish the regular conference season with a 9-2 conference record and a second place finish in the 6A Central.

Addi Frazer would take the circle to begin the contest for the Lady Billies getting the lead off batter to ground out to Kiley Lane.

Frazer would follow with a strike out and a fly out to Alaina Lyle to end the inning.

Coming into their first chance at the plate in the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Billies needed one home run to tie the mark at 47 and one home run to set the new record at 48.

Libby Kingston would lead off with a single on a bunt to the pitcher and with the nex tat bat, Frazer would connect for a two-run home run to center field to give the Lady Billies the tying number of 47.

After two ground outs, Lane would draw a walk followed by a shot to right field by Ashley Hales to set the single season home run record at 48 and to give the Lady Billies a 4-0 lead.

The Score would remain 4-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning. 

Hales would lead off with a walk. After the first out, Allie Regalado reached on an error with Hales advancing to third.

After the second out of the inning, the Lady Billies would add number 49 to the record books on a three-run shot to center field by Libby Kingston to set up the 7-0 win.

With the win the Lady Billies improve to 22-0, completing their perfect regular season and will advance to the 4A South Regional Tournament as the one seed. 

The 4A South Regional is set to begin on Thursday, May 2, in Nashville. 

The Lady Billies need to win one contest to advance to the 4A State Championship Tournament.

Monticello will kick the Regional Tournament off with the first game of the day on Thursday, facing the fourth seed from the 7-4A, the Magnolia Lady Panthers at 10 am. 

Magnolia will enter the contest with an overall record of 12-7.
