Weevils capture a share of the Great American Conference Championship with final series win

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils have secured a share of the Great American Conference Championship in a three-way tie with Harding University and Arkansas Tech University after their final series win over Southern Arkansas this past weekend. 

The Weevils would open the series with the Muleriders with a7-3 victory on Friday highlighted by home runs by Cade Cancilla and Kirk Woolf.

The Weevils would drop the first contest of a double-header on Saturday 6-2 and would follow up in game two with a walk off single by Cancilla to score Aiden Garrett for the 1-0 win to take the series and to secure a share of the conference championship.

With a three way tie, the tie breaker would fall to which team had the better record against the next highest ranked team, the Henderson State Reddies.

UAM would take the advantage having swept Henderson State earlier in the season to earn the number one seed in the GAC Championship Tournament.

With the top seeding, the Weevils will host their first round game at Weevil Field beginning on Friday, May 3, hosting the eighth seeded Oklahoma Baptist University with a 3 pm first pitch.

Game two will be on Saturday at 12 pm followed by game three if needed. 

UAM took the regular season series with OBU 2-1.
