The 2nd Annual city-wide clean up started this past Friday, with city workers from all departments participating in picking up loads of litter and trash on Monticello city streets. The event concluded on Saturday afternoon with community volunteers chipping in to make our streets cleaner. As part of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful 2024 Campaign, the Mayors Office applied for and received free clean up supplies which were distributed to local entities who volunteered their time to collect litter, trash and debris from city streets.

City employees, Kim’s Dance Factory, The Revival Center Church, Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home, NAACP Chapter 6042, The Great I Am Temple, and other volunteers removed everything from car parts, household trash and animal carcasses from ditches all over Monticello.

“Events like these bring out the best in our community and hopefully inspire people to take pride in our town,” Mayor Jason Akers said. “We aren’t talking, we are doing things to make it better”.
