On July 17, 2024, Colonel Mike Hagar, Cabinet Secretary for the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, and Thomas Fisher, Arkansas Drug Director, presented the Spartan Award in recognition of service, dedication, and excellence in drug law enforcement to Tenth Judicial District Drug Task Force Commander James Slaughter and the Tenth Drug Task Force. Colonel Hagar also presented Commander Slaughter with a letter of congratulations from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Commander Slaughter was grateful for the award, and wanted to thank Prosecuting Attorney Frank Spain, the Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha, and Drew County Sheriffs and local police departments for the team effort by all law enforcement agencies within the tenth Judicial District to combat drug crime and the related thefts and violence attached to them.
