Alice Darlene Collins, 87

Alice Darlene Collins of Monticello, passed away June 20, 2024. Born May 23, 1937, in Topeka, Kan. Her husband Arthur “Art” Collins preceded her in death.

Mrs. Collins was a member of First Baptist Church, Dumas. She was a member of the first graduating class of nurses at UAM. During her many years of Nursing she worked at Delta Memorial Hospital, Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, and volunteered many years with Red Cross.

Alice traveled the world participating in mission trips, she enjoyed making wedding cakes, and taught a cake decorating class. She loved flea markets and often had her own booth, and also enjoyed painting pictures. But above all she was a wonderful wife to Art and a loving mother to her children. 

Survivors are a daughter, Alice Belinda (Keith) Weikel of Jacksonville; sons Bill (Robin) Collins of Tillar, and Bob (Pam) Collins of Selma; sister Myrna Wright of Denver Colo.; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with one due in September.

Visitation and services will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, visitation 1-2 p.m. and service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dubs Byers officiating and burial in Dark Corner Cemetery.
