Annual Union Bank Saline River Shootout set for Friday at Warren

Posted

With the spotlight of the week being on Friday night with the annual playing of the Union Bank Saline River Shootout that will be played this season across the Saline River in Warren, rivalry week officially kicked off this week for the Monticello Billies and Junior Billies.

On Thursday, October 19, at Hyatt Field the Junior Billies will host the Warren Junior Lumberjacks in the annual Pink Out Game at Hyatt Field.

The Junior Billies are undefeated at Hyatt Field thus far this season with wins over McGehee and Hamburg and have won their last two contests after falling on the road to Helena on September 21.

Last season the Junior Billies went to Warren and took a 28-6 victory over the Junior Lumberjacks.

The Junior Billies will be coming off an off-week in preparation for the Junior Jacks.

Thursday’s contest will feature the Monticello 7th Grade Billies taking on the Warren 7th Grade Jacks beginning at 5:30 pm.

The Junior Billies will take the field with a scheduled kickoff at 7 pm.

On Friday night, the Monticello Billies will come off their off-week to travel the 16-mile road trip across the river in hopes of securing the Union Bank Saline River Shootout trophy.

This season, the Billies are not just playing for the trophy but to also improve their conference standing as the Billies currently sit third in the 8-4A Conference rankings behind conference leading Warren and second place DeWitt, who defeated the Billies earlier this season.

Warren defeated DeWitt this past week to secure the conference lead.

If Monticello were successful against Warren on Friday night, the Billies would have to win their final two games of the season and would need another conference loss by the DeWitt Dragons in order to move up in the 8-4A Conference standings.

The Billies will play their final two contests of the regular season against Star City and Crossett at home.

The Union Bank Saline River Shootout is set for Friday night with a 7 pm kick off scheduled.
