The Arkansas Virtual Academy has launched a virtual band class this past year. This virtual band class is instructed by Monticello Band Director Carrie Teague.
ARVA has been in operation for twenty years. The virtual band classes are being held as one on one lessons. The band is preparing for their first in person session. This session will be held in Little Rock for the students and their families on May 5.
This idea began from the increase in remote learning during COVID as a means for students to be able to learn an instrument from home. As the new program has been constantly changing, Teague has described it as "building the plane as they fly it".
