Arleta Rodgers Carter, 88

Arleta Rodgers Carter, 88, of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. She was born June 28, 1935, in Drew County to the late Delton Rodgers and Winnie Jones Rodgers.

Arleta worked in customer service for many years including Safeway, Commercial Bank, Rexall Drug, and Burlington Industries. She was a people person and to know her was to love her. She became "Second Mama'' to many kids over the years. Arleta was a graduating member of the Drew Central Class of 1953 and a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Arleta is also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wade Carter, and her brother, Doyle Rodgers.
She is survived by her children, Mark Wade Carter (Rita), and Nicki Carter Knight (Richard); a foster son, Larry Cox; four grandchildren, Curt Evans, Seth Evans, Holly Carter, and Tyler Carter; ten great-grandchildren, Kade, Layla, Emmett, Mason, Lydia, Sawyer, John, Mary Tyler, William, and Gray; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Rodgers and Helen Carter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service was held Monday, October 2, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Pauline Missionary Baptist Church in Monticello.
