Artie McCoy Lucas, 79, of Monticello, departed from earth to eternal life on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Belleview Estates in Monticello. She entered into life on November 23, 1944, in Drew County, to the late Robert McCoy, Sr. and Gussie Owens McCoy. Artie attended Drew High School and was in the class of 1964. She worked at Burlington Industries, Drew Central Schools, and Days Inn in Monticello.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Lucas; a son, Samson Arnold; five sisters, Lucille Prosper, Minnie Cochran, Julia Walker, Patsy King, and Virgie Haynes; four brothers, Robert McCoy, Jr., R.C. McCoy, William McCoy, and Earl Lee Stanley.
Artie leaves to cherish her memories seven stepdaughters, Diann Allen (Alonzo) of Tillar, Erma Riley of Monticello, Linda Lucas (Jerry) of Monticello, Shirley Harris (James E, Jr.) of Bonaire, Ga., Cynthia Williams of Crossett, Teresa Rogers (James) of Monticello, and Melony Tolefree of Monticello; two stepsons, Gary Lucas (Margarett) of Monticello, and Stanley Lucas (Shelia) of Monticello; six sisters, Nellie B McCoy, Mattie Johnson, Georgia Fisher, Lorine McCoy all of Monticello, Mary Barnes of Reed,  Lois Jackson of Jonesboro; one brother, Eddie McCoy of Monticello; sister-in-law, Erma Miller of Milwaukee, Wis.; brother-in-law, James Lucas of Milwaukee, Wis.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nieces, great great nieces, and great great nephews; as well as cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. The burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
