Audrey McClain Stephenson, 98, of Crossett, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Countryside Assisted Living Center in Hamburg. Mrs. Stephenson was a native of Drew County, a former resident of Crossett for 27 years, and a resident of Fountain Hill for most of her life. She was a 1942 graduate of Drew Central High School and attended every class reunion for as long as she was able. After Mrs. Stephenson retired in 1996 as Postmaster at the Fountain Hill Post Office, she volunteered for the Ashley County Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary for 21 years. She was very active in her church, a former member of the Fountain Hill Methodist Church, and a member of the Crossett First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Stephenson enjoyed watching Arkansas Razorback Football and Basketball and Texas Rangers Baseball. She loved taking care of her grandchildren, drinking coffee, and getting together with her friends several times a week.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Stephenson in 1979; two sons, Larry Keith Stephenson in 2002 and Glynn Stephenson in 2018; a grandson, Stephen Keith Stephenson in 1982; her parents, Charlie L. and Tommie Gardner McClain; two brothers, Charles McClain and James McClain and two sisters, Shirley Haskew and Joan Burch.

She is survived by two daughters, Joye Stephenson of Crossett and Anne Pierce of Bryant; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen McClain of Crossett and Gwen McClain of Lacey; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Lacey Cemetery, with Sis. Chyrl Slocum officiating.
