Billies Baseball conference opener against Warren moved to Wednesday

The Monticello Billies picked up their first win of the season on Thursday, February 29, hosting the Dumas Bobcats. 

After a scoreless first inning, the Billies would record six runs in the bottom of the second inning and would follow up in the bottom of the third inning, adding 11 runs in the inning to take a 17-0 lead.

Monticello held the Bobcats scoreless in the top of the fourth inning to take the “Run Rule” victory.

Easton Byrd would pitch the complete game, recording 11 strikeouts and allowing one hit.

The Billies recorded seven hits in the contest with Jackson Hines leading the way going 3 for 3 with 2 runs, and 3 RBI.

Monticello picked up their second victory on Friday, March 1, traveling to Camden to face Camden Fairview. 

The Billies would get three hits from Jagger Hines, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs as the Billies recorded 10 hits in the contest. 

The Billies would get three runs in the top of the first, but Camden came back to tie the contest. The Billies got a run in the top of the second, but Camden tied it in the bottom of the inning. 

Monticello scored three runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good, going on to take the contest 8-5 to improve to 2-1 on the season. 

The Billies were scheduled to begin conference play on Tuesday, but the contest has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. 

Monticello will face the Warren Lumberjacks to begin the 8-4A Conference season on Wednesday, March 6, at home beginning at 5 pm.
