Billies pick up second win of the season with a 74-37 win over Bearden

The Monticello Billies picked up their second win of the season on Saturday at the Mini State Classic hosted by Drew Central with a 74-37 win over the Bearden Bears. 

Bearden controlled the opening tip and would get on the board first.

Jax Rawls would get the Billies on the board first on a shot in the paint. 

Bearden kept the score close for most of the first quarter before the Billie increased their lead to seven points, 19-12, by the end of the quarter.

The Billies would increase their lead in the second quarter, out scoring the Bears 26-9 in the quarter to take a 45-21 at the half.

The Billies would continue to lead throughout the third, out scoring Bearden 22-13 for a 67-34 lead heading into the fourth quarter with the “Sportsmanship Rule” in place that would have the clock running throughout the fourth quarter. 

Monticello would defeat Bearden 74-37.

Quay Rhodes led the way with 19 points followed by Jax Rawls and Tejon Tensley with eigh each. 

Keilyn Greene added seven, Gentry Isom with six, Jayden Rhodes and Peyton Strickland with five, Joseph Accelus and Rohan Patel with four, and Gavin Trotter with three.

Chris Goodman and Jon Jackson rounded out the scoring with two points each.

The Billies improve to 2-3 on the season.

Monticello will be on the road to face Lake Village on December 7 at 4:30 pm.
