Blossoms hold off Southeastern Oklahoma State University 62-58

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms split this past week’s Great American Conference games at Steelman Fieldhouse.

Hosting Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, February 8, and it would take almost three minutes to click off the clock before Kelsey Blakemore connected on a three pointer for the Blossoms at the 7:08 mark.

Bailey Harris would extend the lead to eight points on a layup with 4:50 on the clock but Southeastern would come back to tie the contest at 10 with 1:21 remaining in the quarter.

After free throws by both teams, Southeastern would hold a one point, 12-11, lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Blossoms would retake the lead to begin the second quarter and would hold the lead until 1:57 remaining in the half when Southeastern retook the lead.

Alindsey Long would connect on a three to end the half to cut the lead to one, 25-24.

The contest would remain close throughout the third quarter with Southeastern holding a two point lead, 41-39, heading into the fourth quarter. 

The Blossoms would take the lead for the final time after breaking a 53-53 tie on a free throw by Haleigh Crews and would go on to take a four point, 62-58, victory for their third conference win of the season. 

Bailey Harris led the way with 14 points followed by Kelsey Blakemore and Haleigh Crews with 12, and Alyssia Thorne with 10.

Alindsey Long added eight, Azaria Hulbert with four, and Nicole Weaver with two points. 

Returning home on Saturday, february 10, hosting East Central University.

After playing an even half with the score tied 24-24 at the half, East Central would hold a 39-34 lead into the fourth quarter. 

UAM would outscore East Central in the fourth, 16-13, but would fall short by two points, 52-50.

Alindsey Long and Kelsey Blakemore led with 12, Alyssia Thorne with nine, Bailey Harris and Haleigh Crews with seven, and Azaria Hulbert with three.
