Blossoms pick up series win on the road at Northwestern Oklahoma

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms picked up a series win on the road in Alva, Oklahoma this past weekend in a three game set against Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

In the opening game of the series in a double-header played on Friday, April 14, the  Lady Rangers would take a 1-0 lead after three and a half scoreless innings.

NWOSU would get a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning to get on the board first in the contest.

The Blossoms got two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Bailey Camp would single down the left field line to score Grace Neal and Kennedy Cox for the scores. 

The Lady Rangers came back to tie the contest, 2-2, in the bottom of the inning but the Blossoms would get a run in the top of the eighth inning after Camp flew out to right field scoring Hannah Holdbrook for the go ahead run. 

Kayla Olthouse would allow a single before the Blossom defense would get an out and a double-play to take the 3-2 win.

Olthouse pitched the eight inning complete game to improve to 6-4 on the season. 

In game two, the Blossoms jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Cox homered to right center for a two-run home run that scored Adrianna Erichsen.

Sophie doubled to score Camp and Grace Neal.

Neal added the fifth run of the game for the Blossoms in the top of the second on a solo home run.

NWOSU got on the board in the bottom of the second on a solo home run. 

The Blossoms would score a run in the top of the fourth on a ground out by Cox that scored Madison Morrissey.

Wood would get her second double of the contest to score Camp for a 7-1 lead in the top of the fifth.

The final score would come on a Grace Neal grand slam to give the Blossoms a 11-1 victory to secure the series win.

The Blossoms would fall 6-2 in the final game of the series on Saturday.

With the series win, the Blossoms improved to 21-19 overall and a13-14 GAC record with six conference games remaining. 

UAM will return home on Friday for a double-header beginning at 1 pm against Southwestern Oklahoma State University with the final game of the series on Saturday at 12.
