The Colonel David Love Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), recognized two outstanding local seniors as its 2024 DAR Good Citizens at its March meeting.

Drew Burton, son of Jeremy and Angie Burton, is a senior at Drew Central High. He is academically ranked first in his class, with a 4.0 GPA. Teachers and coaches speak of his leadership skills and dedicated work ethic, his reliability in all things, as well as his kindness to others. He is an accomplished athlete, excelling in tennis, baseball, and basketball, and serving as Captain for each of these teams. Drew is active in his Florence Baptist Church youth group and is a member of the Beta Club and National Honors Society. Drew plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello to continue his baseball career and study exercise science.

Amauri Huskey is the daughter of Asha Smith and carries a 3.94 GPA while participating in band, the cheer team, yearbook staff, pom squad Renaissance Team, and much more. She noted her volunteer work with Women Helping Women, a nonprofit started by a family member, as a source of support and a way to serve others in need. She reflected that Arkansas Girls State pushed her “out of my comfort zone” and challenged her to try new things.  A member of the National Honors Society and Beta Club, Amauri plans to attend Henderson State University and major in Elementary Education.

The Col David Love DAR Chapter congratulates these outstanding young adults, and we are excited for the good change they are bringing to their schools, community, and the world.
