Drew Central Teacher Selected for Governor’s LEARNS Act Committee

Drew Central Elementary fourth grade teacher, Eva Arrington, was selected to work on the LEARNS Act Committee, Teaching and Learning Literacy, led by Dr. Kiffany Pride, Assistant Commissioner of Learning Services.

“The interest in this work was overwhelming with more than 1,200 teacher applicants and only 12 positions to fill,” Dr. Pride said. “Each teacher was selected because of their ability to share ideas, expertise, and give feedback to the Arkansas Department of Education.”

The committee will meet to develop rules and policies related to high-impact tutoring, individual reading plans, literacy notification to parents, literacy coaches, and third grade retention.
