The Arkansas Press Association held their yearly conference and awards ceremony on July 21-22. This year was a special time as the APA celebrated 150 years in operation, making it the longest tenured trade organization in the state.

Saturday, July 22, was a day spent recognizing the best of the best in Arkansas newspapers. Of those chosen, Ashley Hogg, General Manager of the Advance Monticellonian, brought home two awards.

Hogg won second overall in the Editorial category, and won third overall in the Humorous Editorial category.

“Ashley is a great writer, and people really enjoy her editorial work,” Jeff McDonald, Editor of the Advance Monticellonian said. “She is definitely deserving of these awards, and the recognition they bring. We as a staff are incredibly happy for her, and look forward to more awards in the future.”

“I am very humbled to be recognized by my peers in journalism,” Hogg stated. “Writing has always been a passion of mine and a means of expression. My goal is always to provoke thought about local issues, or simply spread joy by sharing a funny story about Fred.”
