Lady Billies improve to 7-0 with win at Hamburg

The Monticello Lady Billies have improved to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in 8-4A Conference play after posting wins against Star City and at Hamburg.

The scheduled road game against Star City was rescheduled for Monticello’s new completely turfed field after heavy rains left field conditions in Star City unplayable.

Alaina Lyle would take the circle for the Lady Billies and would pitch the complete game allowing 10 hits, no runs, walking one, and striking out 11.

Kiley Lane would record two doubles with an RBI and Audrey Howard would record 2 RBI to give the Lady Billies a 3-0 victory.

Returning to conference play on the road in Hamburg on Tuesday night, would once again take the circle to pitch a complete game. 

Libby Kingston would begin the game with a single for Monticello and would later score in the inning after Howard reached first on an error. 

The Lady Billies started the top of the third inning with four singles, scoring two runs.

Monticello would score five runs in the inning.

Monticello scored six more runs in the contest with the 12th run coming on a solo home run by Howard to give the Lady Billies a 12-0 win.

Lyle would record 11 strikeouts in the shutout win on three hits.

Libby Kingston led the Lady Billies at the plate going 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored. 

The Lady Billies will return to conference play on Thursday, March 14, traveling to Watson Chapel to face the Lady Wildcats at 5 pm.

Monticello is scheduled for the DMAC Tournament in Hope on Friday at 12 pm.
