Lady Pirates fall at home, 11-5, to Camden Harmony Grove

The Drew Central Lady Pirates have dropped two consecutive conference contests after an 12-2 loss on the road at DeWitt on Tuesday, April 4, and a home loss on Tuesday, April 11, to Camden Harmony Grove, 11-5.

Against DeWitt, who is currently second in the 3A-8 Conference standings, the Lady Pirates would get one base runner in the top of the first inning on a single by Kynnlee Graves.

DeWitt would get four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-0 lead and would add four runs in the bottom of the second inning to extend their lead to 8-0.

The Lady Pirates got a run in the top of the third inning after a single by Bailey Chapman, followed by Graves reaching first on a dropped third strike and Chapman advancing to third on a steal.

Zoe Johnson would single to left field to score Chapman to cut the lead to 8-1.

DeWitt added a run in the bottom of the third inning to extend the lead to 9-1 with Drew Central adding a run in the top of the fifth inning after Chapman scored on an error by the DeWitt catcher.

DeWitt ended the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning after adding three runs to take the run-rule victory, 12-2.

Hosting Camden Harmony Grove on Tuesday, April 11, the Lady Pirates would send Mallory Jackson to the circle to start the contest. 

Jackson would begin the contest by hitting the first two batters of the game, followed by recording two consecutive outs.

Camden would get one run in the inning on a passed ball to take a 1-0 lead.

Camden would get the lead off batter, Bailey Chapman, out on a dropped third strike followed by Kynnlee Graves reaching on an error.

Zoe Johnson would connect for a triple to score Graves to tie the contest 1-1.

Jackson would get the first two batters in the second inning to ground out followed by a dropped third strike out on a throw by Amari Lucas to Aalanah Jones.

Drew Central got two runners by way of walks in the bottom of the second inning but would strand both runners on base.

Camden would take the lead in the top of the third inning after scoring four runs to take a 5-1 lead. 

After a scoreless bottom half of the third inning, Camdem extended their lead to 7-1 with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. 

Lucas would lead off the bottom of the fourth with a double and would score in the inning on a fly ball to right field by Presley Withers to cut the lead to 7-2.

Camden added a run in the top of the fifth inning to increase the lead to 8-2, but the Lady Pirates cut the lead to 8-4 after a steal of home by Graves and a single by Ali Jo Cruce scored Johnson. 

Camden would get a run in the top of the sixth inning to increase the lead to 9-4 with the Lady Pirates getting a run in the bottom half of the inning after a single by Mallory Jackson and a double by Presley Withers that scored Jackson on an error by the center fielder to cut the lead to 9-5.

After adding two runs in the top of the seventh inning to increase the lead to 11-5, the Lady Pirates would have scoring opportunities in the bottom of the seventh inning. 

After a ground out by Cruce, Emma McRae and Lucas would single to give the Lady Pirates runners at first and second.

Following a Lady Pirate strikeout, Jackson would connect for a single to load the bases but Camden would get Withers to fly out to end the inning to take the 11-5 victory.

Jackson would pitch 3.1 innings allowing seven runs on four hits with four runs being earned. Jackson walked two and struck out four.

Emma McRae came in for relief for Jackson and pitched 3.2 innings allowing four runs on five hits with two runs being earned, walking one.

The Lady Pirates would record 12 hits in the contest against Camden Harmony Grove.

Kynnlee Graves would go 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

 Zoe Johnson was 2 for 4 a triple and a double, scoring one run with an RBI.

Ali Jo Cruce was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Emma McRae was 1 for 4, Amari Lucas was 2 for 3 with a run and a double, Mallory Jackson was 2 for 3 with a run, and Presley Withers was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

With the losses, the Lady Pirates fall to 2-5 on the season and in conference play. 

Drew Central will return to action on the road at Smackover on Thursday, April 13, at 4:30 pm and at Dollarway on Friday, April 14, with a start time scheduled for 4:30 pm.
